Various Roles in Blogs
Introduction to Roles
The WordPress Roles feature is designed to give the blog owner the ability to control and assign what users can and cannot do in the blog. A blog owner (the Blog Administrator) must manage and allow access to such functions as writing and editing Posts, creating Pages, defining Links, creating Categories, moderating Comments, managing Plugins, managing Themes, and managing other users.
iSchool Blog with iSchool Portal Administrator
This role is similar to the iSchool Portal Administrator, usually given to the appointed School Portal Administrator in individual school, to manage the iSchool Portal. If the same person is given the role in the same school, he/she will manage the creation of blogs and maintenance of user accounts and roles in the school.
During the creation of Blogs by the iSchool Blog Administrator for his users in the school, he will need to assign the following role to the blogs, by default, the owner of the Teacher / students blogs are the Administrator of the blogs, only for Co-curriculum blogs, where multiple users may be maintaining the blog, would the different roles be assigned to different users.
iSchool WP Portal Adminisrator
WP Portal administrator is allowed to assign roles to WP Portal or iSchool Blogs as long as the user is exists in same community.
Summary of Roles
- Administrator – By default, the owner of the blog, somebody who has access to all the administration features of the blog, including switching themes, activate plugins, manage options, creating, editing and publishing posts & pages, moderate comments, managing categories and links;
- Editor – Somebody who can only publish posts, manage posts as well as manage other people’s posts, etc.
- Author – Somebody who can publish and manage their own posts
- Contributor – Somebody who can write and manage their posts but not publish posts
- Subscriber – Somebody who can read comments/comment/receive news letters, etc.
