Google Apps Demo

This is taken from Official Google Enterprise Blog:

The Google Apps website does a pretty good job of describing the various applications, Gmail, Google Calendar, etc., included in Google Apps. However, one of the most powerful aspects of the suite is how integrated the applications are. From accessing email from the personalized start page to adding a appointment to your calendar right from an email, we’re working to build a seamless user experience, where you don’t have to wait forever for a different desktop application to load before you can get to work. Here’s Rajen Sheth, Product Manager, demonstrating some of the unique features of Google Apps.

Google To Add Presentation to Docs & Spreadsheets

Google’s announcement to add presentation software to their existing Docs and Spreadsheets applications is a great news for those of us who had started using Google Apps.

    According to the Google Blog,

“Well, we tried to keep it a secret as long as we could, but to be honest, we’ve been dying to tell you about the bun we’ve got in the oven. We’ll soon be welcoming a new addition to the Google Docs & Spreadsheets family: presentations.”

“We hope the easy collaboration tools, remote storage will provide a bigger and better Web 2.0 technologies from Google. For our existing users, it’s one more reason that all users in schools should sign up.

We’ve already freed those of you working in teams from the burdens of version control and email attachment overload when going back and forth on word processing and spreadsheets. It just made sense to add presentations to the mix; after all, when you create slides, you’re almost always going to share them. Now students, writers, teachers, organizers, and, well, just about everyone who uses a computer can look forward to having real-time, web-based collaboration across even more common business document formats.”

With the coming of the Presentation features in Docs and Spreadsheets, sometime in the Summer, students can now prepare the presentation for class assignment. They can just share it on Google Presentations. This is also one more reason to take a look at Google Apps for your school and provide students with tools they understand and use intuitively.

Google Talk now support Flickr slideshows

Google pushed out a nice update to the Web version of their Google Talk application earlier this week. Users can now have more than four conversations at once, embed Flickr slide shows into chat, and a pop out the chat list as its own window.

The Flickr slide show implementation is pretty slick, users need only paste in an album URL, and Google Talk will automatically convert it into a slide show for you. You can shuffle back-and-forth between photos, which resize dynamically depending on the size of your chat window. A word of warning though: pictures will appear a little grainy, so if you want to see the clear, full-size shots, you’ll have to view them on Flickr.
You can now do more with the Google Talk Gadget. In addition to putting the gadget on your Google Personalized Homepage, if you paste a URL from Flickr into your chat, the Google Talk Gadget will let you preview the Flickr photos right in your conversation.
E.g. paste the following URL into your Google Talk Chat Box

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/89094241@N00/sets/72157594498578669/

You should be able to see the Flickr photos in slide photos.
