We’re pleased to announce that there are more features added to iSchool ASP Portal for both Parent and School Admin access to make the site more complete. The added features are :

1. The site is with multi-lingual capable now. Parent can select the preferred language to display. The available languages for selection are Bahasa Malaysia, English and Chinese.

2. Parents are able to read 5 latest School News online from the site. Besides, some local news headlines also available on line and that includes New Straits Times, The Star, Utusan, Berita Harian and Sin Chew Daily.

3. RSS feed feature is incorporated for parents to subscribe their own feeds into the portal. Besides, parents are able to view videos or photos uploaded to Youtube and Flickr by School Admin.

With Picasa Web Albums, you can create your photos Flash slideshow, which features built-in playback controls, size options, and the ability to display captions.

And now you can embed them to your blogs!

We’d built in iSchool Portal with school’s location maps tagged on Google Maps and embedded in SMJK Web Portal. This maps shows the locations for all SMJK schools in Malaysia as shown below. School’s name, address and phone number will be displayed respectively while clicking on the blue anchor mark on the map.

For the respective SMJK school site, we’d also embedded the School location tagged on Google Maps in About Us –> Location page as shown below.

Google Services

Google Calendar is a contact and time management web application offered by Google. With Google Calendar, it’s easy to keep track of all your life’s important events such as school exam schedules, birthdays, reunions, appointments – all in one place.

Google Docs is a free, Web-based word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation application offered by Google. With Google Docs, you can create and edit documents online while collaborating in real-time with other users.

Scribd

Scribd lets you publish and share documents online. It makes use of a custom Flash document viewer that lets you display documents right in your Web browser.
You can publish and shares documents in Word (.doc), PDF (.pdf), text (.txt), PowerPoint (.ppt), Excel (.xls), Postscript (.ps) etc.

We have enhanced iSchool Portal with Recent Visitor Info, which incorporated with GlobeTrackr, ClustrMaps and Sitemeter web services.

The info shows recent visitors’ countries, top visiting countries, geographical locations of all visitors on a thumbnail map as well as visitors hit counters.

We’d built in control to allow only valid user account ID entered that meet the following conditions:

1. User Account ID assigned must be in small letters ie a-z
2. Number assigned for User Account ID must be within 0-9
3. Allow to input period ie . only

WPMU deletes all the posts and blogroll links upon user master profile delete request submission. With this, we’d developed a new plugin that will transfer the posts / links’ ownership from deleted user to blog owner / site administrator prior to the profile deletion. If the deleted user is the blog owner, this Plugin will re-assign the post author to site administrator. This Plugin is implemented to our products that are powered by WordPress engine ie iSchool Blogs and iSchool Contests.

We’d enhanced iSchool Portal blogs listing page with collapsible and expandable section for teachers’ blogs, students’ blogs and co-curriculums’ blogs by school heading with the screen as shown below:

By default, the blogs listing is in collapsible manner whereby it shows the schools with created blogs sites categorized under teachers’, students’ or co-curriculums’ blogs only. School user is required to click on expandable button in order to list out the available blog sites for that particular category of blogs.

We’d provided School Blogs Deletion option and the priviledge is granted to School Portal Administrator or Web Administrator only to perform the function. To do it, please refer to our online documentation on How to Edit my School Blog?

It is important to take note that once the school blog is deleted, all those users’ or co-curriculums’ blogs blogroll or links shall be removed. In the event whereby you create your school’s blog again, all those existing users and co-curriculum blogs will not be listed in your newly created school blog’s blogroll. Thus, you need to add in their link manually to your school blog. To do it, please refer to our online documentation on What are Blogrolls? for details.

iSchool Blogs is finally going live on 10/08/2007. All SMJK Schools’ Principals and Administrators have officially informed via e-mail on this launching. This new has also announced in http://smjk.edu.my so that all school users within the SMJK community are awared on the launching.
